Improving Access to Quality Education
CCS launches School Choice Campaign!!

After over 10 years of research and advocacy in the field of education, the Centre for Civil Society launched its School Choice Campaign on 29 January 2007.

School Choice is achieved through education vouchers, cash transfers, tuition fee reimbursement schemes - schemes where funds follow students and not schools. 'School Choice' has emerged winner amongst all approaches to address the problems of illiteracy and low quality education faced by the poor in different parts of the world.

In the next one year, the Campaign aims at spreading awareness about school choice among all elected representatives of the government and at least 50% of parent with children in State schools, besides establishing five demonstrative projects in India.

Jharkhand Citizen Handbook released

CCS' Citizen Handbooks continue to generate critical discussions on issues of governance. The Centre brought out the second Citizen Handbook from the State of Jharkhand in collaboration with the popular newspaper, Prabhat Khabar. While the first handbook focused on detailed analysis of individual departments of the government, the second Handbook focuses on top ten areas of concern (water, forests, food security, Right to information etc) and analyses the respective departments. Read more about the Handbook in The Telegraph.
