eCatalyst
A Quarterly e-newsletter by and for CCS graduates

May 2007

Editorial

Ideas ought to be shared, challenged and reworked. They cannot be left dangling – subject to the fate of government committees. Constructive ideas propel the society forward when they are turbocharged into action.  Take for example, CCS’ ongoing ‘School Choice Campaign’. It tries to convey the power of choice (currently denied by the government to many) by running pilot projects show casing the education voucher mechanism.

Through eCatalyst as well, we bring to you each quarter a bouquet of ideas. And if it ever had its own essence- it would be inevitably be freedom of expression. Many of our contributors, who have been involved with CCS share how new ideas changed their lives. We hope you find that this issue exudes freshness and inspires you enough to challenge your existing paradigm.

We look forward to hearing from you- your opinions, essays, research papers or articles on pressing issues at ecatalyst@ccs.in

Blogs of Note:

http://indianeconomy.org :

Prashant Kothari, an entrepreneur and Arjun Swarup, a budding economist along with a string of contributors write about the mosaic that is India with a prism of policy and economics. The comprehensive blogroll hints at a growing readership and often the discussions that follow a post are a much more interesting read than the blog entry itself!

http://www.economist.com/debate/freeexchange/

Essential cyber- fodder for any ‘The Economist’ fan. Interesting info-nuggets from the Economist stable and ‘talk –backs’ from readers- it is ‘The Economist’ at its interactive best. Its ‘lightly moderated’ character should be taken in the spirit of self- regulation.
