Baithak: Conversations in Policy
Conceptualised as a space for open dialogue and exchange of ideas, Baithak: Conversations in Policy is our newest initiative that aims to foster continued learning for and conversation with our growing network of alumni around the country. We launched our first Baithak, on 25th August, with Gurcharan Das speaking on the ideas of desire, individual freedom, and the duty to oneself, bringing together 25 alumni, for an evening of learning and sharing.
IPOLICY: SENSITIZING YOUNG LEADERS TO LIBERAL PERSPECTIVES IN PUBLIC POLICY
We conducted ìpolicy, our 3-day certificate course in public policy in the cities of Delhi and Mumbai, engaging 75 young leaders. Our esteemed speakers included Mohit Satyanand, Member, Board of Advisors, Centre for Civil Society; Shubho Roy, Legal Consultant, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy; Barun Mitra, Founder and Director, Liberty Institute; and Parth Shah, President, Centre for Civil Society, among others.
In conversation with journalists
We hosted our monthly dialogue with journalists on 18th August with 10 journalists from leading media houses like Lok Sabha TV, All India Radio, Aaj Tak, Dainik Bhaskar, and Doordarshan, among others.This engaging and insightful discussion on the Sports University Bill, was led by Meenakshi Pahuja, National Medalist in Swimming and Professor at Lady Shri Ram College.
Exploring Market-based Solutions to Poverty with Kris Mauren
On 30th July, we hosted Kris Mauren, Executive Director at the Acton Institute, at the CCS office in New Delhi for a dialogue on the need to shift the development paradigm from ‘aid’ to ‘enterprise’. Kris Introduced the audience to the Acton Institute’s work around the world and emphasised the immense potential for think tanks to impact change in India. A 2015 Templeton Freedom Award winner, the documentary Poverty Inc. grew out of Acton's PovertyCure initiative.
